TestGorilla vs. TalentNet: Talent sourcing tools compared

TG-Profile-Generic
Maheen Kanwal

TestGorilla Sourcing and TalentNet both aim to make finding and engaging top talent easier, but they do so in different ways.

This TestGorilla vs. TalentNet comparison guide walks through how each tool works and where they shine, helping you decide which is the better fit for your needs.

What is TestGorilla?

TestGorilla is a talent discovery and assessment platform founded in Amsterdam in 2019. It helps companies identify and evaluate candidates based on real skills rather than resumes.

The platform includes TestGorilla Sourcing, which connects recruiters to a network of pre-assessed talent, and TestGorilla Assessments, which lets hiring teams test job-specific abilities using validated, science-backed tests, AI video interviews, and more.

TestGorilla’s public Job Board also allows candidates to showcase their verified skills to employers.

What is TalentNet?

Founded in 2013, TalentNet is a direct-sourcing platform that helps organizations build branded talent communities and manage hiring for temporary and full-time roles.

The TalentCommunity portal gives candidates a space to join and stay connected with companies. Recruiters can use the TalentBench dashboard to manage pipelines, send outreach, and monitor candidate activity engagement.

TalentNet’s AI tool, TalentNavigator, also assists with job matching, talent search, and candidate communication.

TestGorilla vs. TalentNet: Talent sourcing

TestGorilla’s talent discovery & matching

With TestGorilla Sourcing, you get access to a pool of more than two million candidates worldwide, all of whom have completed skills assessments and chosen to be visible to employers.

You can search the database by entering the job role, keywords, or specific TestGorilla assessments. Then, tighten your search with filters for experience level, location (including city), salary expectations, or tests taken. All filters stack, and you can include up to six test filters for precise searching.

TestGorilla’s AI also recommends candidates who best fit your criteria by considering verified test performance and self-reported work experience. You can enter your criteria once, and TestGorilla will handle the rest.

In TestGorilla Sourcing, potential candidates appear with verified skills and assessment results that help you quickly spot strong matches.

In TestGorilla Sourcing, potential candidates appear with verified skills and assessment results that help you quickly spot strong matches.

Search results appear as candidate cards showing recent job roles and scores for key tests. You’ll see raw scores (percentage correct) and percentile scores (how they compare to other test-takers) for easy, objective comparison. Top-scoring candidates appear first, and TestGorilla benchmarks results clearly:

  • 70th and above percentile: Top performers

  • 40th–69th percentile: Average

  • Below 40% or incomplete: Not shown in search

Coding test results appear as “Achieved” or “Partially Achieved,” or remain hidden if the candidate didn’t pass.

More details – including names, photos, contact information, full resume details, and results on personality tests – remain hidden until you reach out to candidates. This is to ensure fair evaluation and reduce the risk of bias.

Test scores stay valid for up to a year, and candidates can retake assessments after a few months to update their results. This keeps profiles current and helps ensure you source from a pool of candidates with up-to-date, verified skills data.

When you’ve found potential candidates, you can favorite as many as you like to create a shortlist. TestGorilla enables you to download profiles, too, so you can compare them later.

Everything you need to find, contact, assess, and interview candidates is built into TestGorilla – no need to bounce between platforms. TestGorilla is also straightforward to use, with a user-friendly interface that’s neat and visually appealing.

TalentNet’s talent sourcing

TalentNet takes a community-based approach to sourcing. Instead of searching a broad database of external candidates, companies build their own private, branded talent communities consisting of former employees and contractors, past applicants, and new candidates who opt in.

Candidates join through the TalentCommunity portal, create profiles, and explore and apply for jobs. TalentNet gives candidates AI-driven job matches based on the skills, experience, and preferences they enter in their profiles.

Recruiters then source from this community using the TalentBench dashboard. There, they can search profiles, review candidate activity, and send outreach by email or SMS. Recruiters can also create smaller talent pools for specific job types, regions, or experience levels.

TalentNet’s AI tool, TalentNavigator, adds support by helping search community profiles and recommending strong candidates based on job details, such as required skills, relevant experience, and salary range.

TalentNet may work well if you mainly want to source from a talent pool that’s mostly made up of people who already know your company. New candidates can join, but the focus is on nurturing an existing network, so it’s not the best option for reaching a lot of outside talent

Additionally, TalentNet’s AI recommendations are based on the information candidates add to their profiles, which may not be accurate. That means some good matches may not actually be a fit for your role.

The platform itself works well, but it can feel a bit complex at first. Because TalentNet is focused on building talent communities, it also requires a lot more initial setup than tools that give you instant access to a large candidate pool.

TestGorilla vs. TalentNet: Candidate engagement

TestGorilla’s candidate engagement features

Once you’ve found a candidate you want to contact, you can unlock their full profile and reach out with a customizable email sent directly from TestGorilla. This gives you access to their name, email address, photo, resume, and other details they’ve shared.

Your emails serve one of two purposes:

  • Invite candidates to take a custom assessment for your open role, which you can build using up to five of TestGorilla’s 350+ tests, plus AI video interviews and other add-ons.

  • Encourage them to apply for your position.

Invitations can include your contact information, a link to the assessment, or a link to your job application.

Emails are sent from TestGorilla’s domain, helping them bypass spam filters, and candidate replies go straight to your own inbox.

The platform also supports bulk outreach. By uploading a CSV or XLSX file with candidates’ names and email addresses, you can contact up to 1,200 people at once using the Bulk invite function.

A standout feature is TestGorilla’s anti-poaching protection. When a candidate takes an assessment for one company, they’re temporarily hidden from other employers’ searches for 2–3 weeks. Candidates marked as “hired” are automatically removed from the sourcing pool until they choose to opt back in.

TalentNet’s engagement features

TalentNet is designed for long-term engagement with members of your private talent community.

Candidates can receive job alerts, keep their profiles updated, or reapply to new openings whenever they’re interested.

Recruiters can send personalized or bulk messages via email or SMS, create automated outreach and follow-up campaigns, and schedule interviews directly from the TalentBench dashboard.

All interactions are logged automatically, so teams have a full history of candidate communications.

TestGorilla vs. TalentNet: Analytics & reporting

TestGorilla’s analytics & reporting

TestGorilla’s Analytics dashboard gives you a clear view of how candidates you invite (including those you find via Sourcing) move through your hiring funnel. You can track metrics for “Invited” to “Opened invite,” “Started,” and “Completed” – making it easy to see where candidates drop off and where your process may need adjustment.

You can filter data by job name, role, hiring manager/recruiter (i.e., who created the assessment), invitation method (direct invite vs. public link), and invitation and completion dates. This lets you compare how different roles, hiring managers/recruiters, and outreach methods perform, so you can pinpoint which sourcing efforts lead to better engagement.

TestGorilla vs. TalentNet: Candidate experience & company branding

TestGorilla’s candidate experience & company branding options

TestGorilla prioritizes a smooth, transparent, bias-resistant candidate experience.

In the Sourcing database, individuals’ names, photos, contact details, and other identifying information stay hidden until recruiters reach out to them. This helps ensure candidates know that first impressions are based on their skills and experience rather than subjective factors.

Outreach emails can include a direct link to the next step – an assessment or your job application – which keeps things simple for candidates. TestGorilla also sends automatic reminders and status updates so candidates always know where they stand without having to follow up.

Plus, all candidate data is handled in line with strict General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) standards that safeguard personal information. This can help reinforce trust with people moving through your hiring process.

As for branding, you can customize outreach emails with your company’s logo and colors to create a consistent, professional experience.

TalentNet’s candidate experience & company branding options

TalentNet focuses the candidate experience around your company’s brand

Through the TalentCommunity portal, candidates interact with a fully branded environment that reflects your logo, messaging, and visual identity. This can help them feel like they’re interacting directly with your company from the start.

Additionally, you can edit email and SMS messages to make outreach feel more personal.

The platform is also designed to be easy for candidates to navigate. They can apply for roles in one click and, after joining the community, update their profiles, check new opportunities, and receive alerts about roles that match their interests.

Lastly, TalentNet complies with GDPR standards, ensuring candidate information is handled securely.

Verdict: TestGorilla vs. TalentNet

TestGorilla is built for fast, skills-first sourcing. You get immediate access to a global pool of two million (and counting) pre-vetted candidates, and can evaluate prospective talent with built-in assessments.

Meanwhile, TalentNet is built around your own private talent community and doesn’t include built-in skills testing. You grow your talent pool over time with former employees, past applicants, contractors, and new candidates who choose to join.

Additionally, while TestGorilla’s plans are flexible and scalable for companies of all sizes, TalentNet’s pricing is quote-only and targeted toward enterprises.

Overall, TalentNet may be well-suited to companies that want to build and nurture their own long-term talent. But TestGorilla is the better fit for most businesses – especially if you want to access fresh talent and don’t already have a large, established community.
