Key Responsibilities:

As National Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the operations team achieves and exceeds the operational expectations of the cargo team.

You will be responsible for:

The Management of the Operations function within Safe Fly Cargo in its entirety:

  • Creation and implementation of the overall operations strategy for Safe Fly Cargo to ensure optimised efficiencies

  • Design implement and entrench the SOP’s for the Cargo Operations Department

  • Regularly monitor the effectiveness of the operations strategy and amend accordingly

  • Monitor competitor activity and adjust strategies accordingly

  • Ensure all billing information is captured and reconciled accurately

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with customers, suppliers and logistics providers including regular meetings with suppliers

  • Quarterly Business Review reports for Senior Management to track KPI’s and adjust strategy where required

  • Conduct regular inspections of all premises, vehicles, equipment and processes to ensure all safety, security & CAA guidelines are entrenched

  • Prepare for regular CAA and other regulatory board inspections by ensuring that all operations and premises are directly in line CAA legislation at all time

  • Conduct investigations and complete required reports for any and all incidents that occur

  • Monitor and manage all communication platforms including all WhatsApp client groups and ensure speedy solutioning and responses

The management of the operations team based in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth: (Locations will increase as the business grows with the potential for new operations in various other provinces across the country over time)

  • Implementation and entrenchment of reasonable KPI’s for the operations team

  • Training of the cargo controllers on the relevant systems

  • Running weekly operations meetings with the operations team to discuss challenges and progress

  • Assist the operations team with the alleviation of any challenges they may be experiencing

  • Creation and control of all scheduling requirements

  • Ensuring stringent overtime control

  • Leave and attendance management

  • Conflict resolution when required

  • Support in the cargo control space to alleviate the team should an employee be on leave

  • Ensure licenses for all drivers are valid

  • Ensure cargo controllers manifest ALL waybills correctly

The management of the premises including:

  • Maintenance of office equipment

  • Entrenchment of and adherence to all safety, security and CAA protocols

  • Organisation and tidiness of the office

  • Stock control of all cargo requirements

Ensuring the drivers fulfil their role regarding the overall management of the vehicles including:

  • Licensing

  • Cleanliness

  • Maintenance

  • Logbook maintenance

  • Any other duties requested by management within reason
