TestGorilla is a Metaview alternative for recruiting teams that want candidate sourcing and skills assessments in one platform. Metaview, the AI recruiting platform at metaview.ai (not the MetaViewer document tool), began with AI interview notes and now sells agents for sourcing, screening, and outreach.
Both platforms explain why each candidate matched. Gorilla Sourcing, TestGorilla's sourcing product, also shows assessment results for candidates who complete a TestGorilla assessment. Choose Metaview for interview notes and automated outreach. Choose TestGorilla to see who can do the job before the interview.

Metaview is an AI recruiting platform that began with AI interview notes. Its help center lists six AI products: Notetaker, Sourcing, Application Review, Screening, Reports, and Job Posts.
Metaview Sourcing is Metaview's AI candidate sourcing agent. It drafts an ideal candidate profile with must haves and nice to haves for you to approve, then returns candidates with the reasoning for each.
Fillmore, introduced on June 9, 2026, is built on Sourcing. It runs outreach from Slack and books calls.
The notetaker built Metaview's reputation. As of September 28, 2026, Metaview had 4.8 out of 5 on G2 from 132 reviews. All 132 review the notetaker, and 131 were posted before Fillmore launched. One reviewer wrote: "Not having to take notes while on the call means I can be completely present and have a much more insightful discussion."
Biweekly updates. No spam. Unsubscribe any time.
As of September 28, 2026, Metaview's pricing page lists Sourcing and Notetaker plans per user per month. It publishes no yearly prices. Sourcing is priced by agentic profiles sourced:
Sourcing plan | Price (per user a month) | Agentic profiles sourced |
Free | $0 | First 100, one time |
Pro | $100 | 200 a month, no rollover |
Max | $300 | Unlimited |
Enterprise | Custom | Custom |
Metaview's pricing page, Sourcing tab, September 28, 2026. Notetaker, Application Review, and All agents are separate tabs. There is no yearly price.
Notetaker. Free covers 25 calls a month. Pro costs $60 per user a month for unlimited calls. Many comparison pages quote only these notetaker prices.
Profile credits. On Free and Pro, each completed agentic match uses a credit, and Instant matches are free to review. Metaview's help center says some candidates may be "outdated, duplicated, incorrectly matched, or not suitable for the role," so "sourcing credits are non-refundable once used."
Contact details. Every workspace gets 500 free credits a month, shared across the team, with no rollover. An email costs three credits and a phone number 10 (Metaview outreach page). You aren't charged when nothing is found.
Screening and Fillmore. Screening uses its own credits, and neither has a published price.
In Gorilla Sourcing, viewing search results doesn't use credits. See TestGorilla's plans.
Both tools explain why each candidate matched. TestGorilla can also show a result from a skills assessment the candidate completed.
Top: Metaview's candidate view, from a Metaview blog post (June 2026, sample data). Bottom: a Gorilla Sourcing candidate card. Both give a reason for each criterion, with evidence from the profile. Metaview's 96% is a profile-fit rating, not an assessment result. Note: Metaview's image is its own published mock-up with sample data.
Metaview's sourcing starts from public profiles. Its sourcing guide says: "Sourcing relies on the information available in public professional profiles, which can sometimes be incomplete or ambiguous." Metaview can also search your ATS and past Metaview interviews. Metaview's own blog describes the Sourcing agent this way: "It surfaces and explains those candidates; it does not contact them and it does not assess them." Outreach and Screening are separate Metaview products.
Public profiles are a shared input to both platforms, and a profile is what a candidate wrote about themselves. In TestGorilla's Recruiting 2026 survey of 1,428 US talent professionals, 52.5% believed most or all of the profiles and resumes they read were written by AI. Nine in 10 said a sourced candidate's claimed AI skills had turned out weaker than their profile at least once.
Years of experience alone predicted little in a 2022 review by Sackett and colleagues. It estimated correlations with job performance of .07 for years of experience, .40 for job knowledge tests, .33 for work samples, and .42 for structured interviews. These figures describe hiring methods, not either platform.
A completed TestGorilla assessment adds a test result to the sourcing record. The Skills tested tab shows 3M+ candidates who already have a TestGorilla score, and which tests they took. For your role, you invite candidates to one assessment, so everyone who completes it gets a percentile you can compare. The result sits on the candidate's card, next to the match reasons.
A candidate's assessment results in TestGorilla: an overall percentile, then the result for each test. One click from the candidate's card. What each tool hands you. A work history suggests; only an assessment shows. Send your hiring manager a shortlist where every name carries the reasons it matched and an assessment result.
Gorilla Sourcing keeps search and assessment in one platform.
Describe the role. Type a job title, paste the job description, or write the brief in your own words.
Set the bar. The AI turns your brief into criteria, including ones you implied but didn't spell out. Must haves decide who makes the list, and nice to haves set the order. Metaview's agent works this way too.
See who fits, and why. Gorilla Sourcing searches 900M+ profiles. Every criterion gets a match, a no match, or a blank where the profile says nothing, with the evidence beside it.
Add an assessment. Email candidates from your connected mailbox, and invite the ones you like to the role's assessment. Build it from skills tests, job simulations, AI interviews, custom questions, and resume scoring. Each job keeps one pipeline: Leads, Contacted, Invited to assessment, and Completed assessment.
The Skills tested tab in Gorilla Sourcing shows only candidates who already have a TestGorilla score.
TestGorilla's library has 350+ skills tests. Each one is developed with at least two subject matter experts, and the library draws on O*NET, the US Department of Labor's skills database. Read about the science behind TestGorilla's assessments.
Metaview is the better fit when:
Interview notes are the job. The notetaker is what 132 G2 reviewers rated 4.8, and Metaview integrates with 62+ recruiting tools. For custom connections, it offers an MCP integration with API keys; we found no public REST API documentation.
You want an agent to run outreach. Metaview's August 2026 update lists sequences across email, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and SMS, and Fillmore books calls. TestGorilla doesn't offer autonomous agents.
Sourcing is your only gap. If you already assess candidates with a tool you trust, Metaview's reasoning may be all you need.
Keep Metaview if its sourcing, outreach, and interview notes do what you need.
Add Gorilla Assessments if assessment is the missing step. Send the candidates you pick in Metaview a TestGorilla assessment.
Move to Gorilla Sourcing if you want to start from candidates who already have a skill score, and keep search, outreach, and assessment results in one pipeline.
To compare fairly, run one open role through both with the same criteria. Compare the matches first. Then send the candidates you'd shortlist from each the same assessment, and see what you'd tell your hiring manager. For more options, see our guide to talent sourcing software.
It depends which Metaview product you're replacing. For interview notes, G2 lists Fireflies.ai and Otter.ai among Metaview's competitors. For candidate sourcing, TestGorilla is an alternative that pairs AI search with skills assessments, so candidates who complete an assessment carry a result next to the reasons they matched. Our guide to AI talent sourcing tools compares more options.
As of September 28, 2026, Metaview Sourcing is free for your first 100 agentic profiles, then $100 per user a month for 200 a month (Pro) or $300 for unlimited (Max). Contact details cost extra credits: three for an email and 10 for a phone number, from 500 free credits a month per workspace. The Notetaker costs $60 per user a month on Pro.
Yes. Metaview Sourcing is an AI agent that turns your brief into an ideal candidate profile, which you approve, then returns candidates with the reasoning for each. According to Metaview, profiles come from third-party data providers and are built from public professional information. You can also search your connected ATS and past Metaview interviews.
Metaview Screening is an AI voice interview. It rates each answer against a rubric you write, and ratings are produced from the interview transcript. It's sold separately from Sourcing, with its own credits. TestGorilla assessments combine skills tests, job simulations, AI interviews, custom questions, and resume scoring, and everyone who completes the same assessment gets a percentile you can compare.
Yes. You can keep Metaview for interview notes and sourcing. Gorilla Assessments works on its own, so you can send the candidates you like in Metaview a TestGorilla assessment. Or run one open role through Gorilla Sourcing and compare the shortlists.
Why not try TestGorilla for free, and see what happens when you put skills first.
