About the Role

We are a U.S.-based General Construction company headquartered in the Midwest, seeking a highly skilled Lead Estimator with specialized experience working on U.S. Commercial construction projects. This is a key role in our remote preconstruction team and will lead the end-to-end estimating process for competitive bid submissions across various U.S. Commercial spaces. This position is ideal for candidates who are self-directed, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing complex bids while working remotely in coordination with U.S.-based subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating process for U.S. Commercial construction bids from solicitation review through final submission.

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using architectural and engineering drawings.

  • Coordinate directly with U.S.-based subcontractors to obtain, clarify, and level quotes.

  • Develop comprehensive bid packages, including narratives, pricing breakdowns, and risk assessments.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to transition awarded projects to the Operations division.

  • Support the development and documentation of internal estimating standards and best practices.

  • Utilize software and AI tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Excel, ChatGPT, BuildingConnected) to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of U.S. commercial construction estimating experience, including familiarity with project types, scope, and regional variations.

  • Proficiency in construction takeoffs, bid leveling, cost estimating, and preparing compliance documentation.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English, especially for coordinating with subcontractors and contributing to proposal development.

  • Hands-on experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and estimating platforms such as

  • BuildingConnected or similar tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively as part of a fully remote team.

  • Personal computer or laptop and access to a reliable internet connection is required for remote work.

  • Ability to work a M-F schedule 8:00 - 16:30 (CDT)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal education or certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing (MEP) Engineering, Civil

  • Engineering, Construction Management, OR a related field with hands-on experience in building systems design, coordination, or construction execution.

  • Familiarity with RSMeans OR other standardized cost estimating databases.

  • Experience leading estimation teams or mentoring junior estimators.

  • PMP Certification or OSHA 30-hour training is a plus.
